DEL MONTE HEIGHTS / SEASIDE, Monterey County — October 30, 2026. Residents who want to spend a Saturday improving neighborhood parks have two specific dates ahead. The Friends of Seaside Parks Association (FOSPA) lists a volunteer workday at Lincoln Cunningham Park on Saturday, November 7, and another at Havana Soliz Park on Saturday, November 14. Both are scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon, according to the group’s published 2026 calendar, which is also linked from the City of Seaside’s parks website.

The listed dates are scheduled volunteer opportunities, not a record of work already completed or a promise that conditions will permit every outdoor task. Interested neighbors should confirm the current plan with the organizers shortly before arriving, particularly if rain, unsafe conditions or municipal maintenance work affects a park.

November 7 — Lincoln Cunningham Park

FOSPA places Lincoln Cunningham Park between San Pablo Avenue, Lincoln Street and Yerba Buena Court. The city maintains public park facilities in this area, and a separate California58 article explains the completed 2026 paths and children’s play area. This volunteer workday concerns planting and maintenance assistance, not a new paid city construction contract or an announcement that the nearby San Pablo pedestrian bridge has reopened.

November 14 — Havana Soliz Park

One week later, the group lists a workday at Havana Soliz Park, located between Havana Street and Lincoln Street, near San Pablo Avenue. Its website identifies a community food garden, picnic space and green areas in this neighborhood. The city also lists Soliz Park as a public facility with paths, open space, trees and picnic tables, with regular hours from dawn to dusk.

The two park locations are different and should not be confused with the 986 Hilby Avenue mailing or administrative address sometimes shown on regional calendars for the overall recurring event series. Use the FOSPA neighborhood-specific calendar for the correct park before leaving home.

What will volunteers do?

FOSPA describes possible activities including weeding, mulching, planting drought-tolerant and native vegetation, removing invasive plants and picking up litter. The group says volunteer tasks can be light or physically active, depending on a person’s comfort and ability, and aims to support pollinator habitat and neighborhood park stewardship. The calendar is not a work order specifying the exact species or number of plants to be installed on a particular Saturday.

According to the organization, volunteers sign in with an on-site park leader. First-time participants are asked to complete a liability waiver, and the organization’s website links to a City of Seaside volunteer waiver and photo-release form to be completed annually. The organizers generally supply shared tools, plants, mulch and water. Participants should bring gardening gloves, sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for outdoor work, along with personal items needed for comfort. Families should check current guidance about minors, dogs and accessibility before arriving.

How to get current information

For the most recent park assignment, weather-related changes and practical questions, visit Friends of Seaside Parks Association or email fospa.info@gmail.com. The group also offers a weekly email reminder and a map link for each park. It is a volunteer-led nonprofit working with local public agencies and community partners, not the City of Seaside’s enforcement or permitting office.

For residents who cannot attend on November 7 or 14, FOSPA’s published calendar also lists other Saturday sites, including Mescal Neil Park on November 21 and Beta Park on November 28. Confirm those dates before making plans; a printed annual calendar cannot establish the actual number of volunteers present or whether a workday later occurs.
